I am gla. to see a progressive move is being made, ahd hope that it is the first, of many steps yet te- be taken to keep up to the standard of progress that is beiDg maintained in other place- in this colony. . It may interest some ; of your readers to know that iii: Duriedin "the enrolment of pupils at the Technical Sohool this session haß exoeeded all expectations. The numbers entered for the various classes fcljready exceed 650; and -provision has had to.B made to appoint extra'teachers. The necessity -for^. increased accommodation ia greatly felt, and the efforts of the committee -tjo-provide for so-many pupils-deserve the support of the community. The Minister for Education is believed to be a Rtrong friend of the movement extending the scope and effioienoy of the' Technioal schools ; oL .the. colony,"— vids " Evening Star," of the 10th inst. ".That a University for 'technical education' would in the opinion of the, Minister for' Lands' bs of muob more use to' the youth of Wellington than a University where the doad languages wore .taught."
