COOK'S GARDENS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — l was looking at the proposed cricket ground in Cook's Gardens this morning, and as bush farming is being brought before the public very prominently at the present time, I was struck with the decided advantages of the town of Wauganui accruing if a good oval was formed, as it could be, and grassed with English seeds. For a pleasure and recreation grounds for all kinds of athletic sports I have never seen or heard of a place so convenient in any other town. In fact, I may say it would be the making of the town. Not only could it be made simply grand but it is an absolute necessity for our youth ; and l am astonished our member, having so recently returned from England and elsewhere, he has not endeavoured to further any plans for its consummation. But perhaps he and other candidates for Parlamentary honours are asleep and require waking.— l am, &c , Bush Farmer. Wanganui, June 17th
