Christcuurch, February 13. The body pf Npjl Henrick Schwartz shipping clerk in tho late' firm of Miles and Co., was found hanging this morning in an outhouse at his residence at Lin wood. He was 58 years of nge, and was a native of .Denmark. He had been depressed in spirits recently owing to tho loss of hi3 Bituationi-
At the Magistrate's Court this morning Otto Schnier, formerly second mato of the barquo Franz, was charged with the wilful murder ot Poter Thompson, a seaman on Hoard the voebol, on January 25th. Tho row occurred on board tho barquo when lying at Timaru, whon Thompson was killed by a shot flrod from a revolver by accusod. At the criminal session it Timaru on February Cth the Grand Jury found no bill, but the Government decided on a fmther proceeding, and accufed was arrested in Chiistshurch lastnight, and reminded to Timaru to appear on February 10th.
