Melbourne, December 5 When the Land and lucome Tax RII was in Committee an amendment increasing the Land Tax exemption from £100 to £500 was carried hy 57 to 26, the Government voting with the minority. The Premier intimated that the amendment would mean a loss of £160,---000 to the revenue, and they would have to meet it by increasing the Income Tax. Sidney, December 5.
Tho Assemby, after considering the Council's amendments to the Labour Settlements Bill decided to lay the measure aside.

Mr Richardson has succeeded Mr Marmion in the Ministry. Mr Parker, Colonial Secretary, ban resigned. It is believed that his resignation is due to riction in the Cabinet.
