WAITOTARA COUNTY COUNCIL
TKe ordinary monthly meeting of the Waitotara County Council was hold yesterday. Proseit— Crs Laird (Chairman), Tawse, Webb, Percy, andHandley. Minutes— The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read asd confiiinad.
Metalling— Mr Jas. Currie waited on the Council re metalling about 20 chains on the Koatanui Boad, and it was resolved on the motion of the Chairman that the Foreman report at tho next meeting ss to the cost of making Un road passable Correspondence— Letters wero received from the Patea Council, Hawera Council (Counties), Wanganui Borough Council, and Wanganui Harbour Board re appointing delegates to most tho Minister of Lands on his visit to Wanganui re the establishment of a siding at Nnknuiaru for shell rock.— A letter was recoived from tbe Bjrough Council enclosing Mr Hawke's report and opinion in connection with slaughterhouses inthe country, as well as the solicitor's opinion on same.— Resolved that the toport and opinion lie on the table. Trespassing -Mr J. Walker, senr., waited on the Council with regard to persons trcspissing on settlers' land and shooting, but nothing was done in the matter.
FuiwE— lll connection with the growth of furzn on Bayly's road, <ii 9 opinion of Mr Watt was wad as to'- Mr Bayly's liability to clean til's samB, he being of opinion that Mr B3yly was not liable. Foreman's Report— Tho Foreman's report was road and adopted. Tenders— The following tenders were accepted for the particular works men-tioned-Contract No. 117, formation Upper Pakaraka Eoad, Mr J. Barnes' tender (i 39 193) accepted; contract No: 118, dplivery of metal on Swamp Road, MrJ Downers' fender (2s 5 Jd per yard), accepted i contract No. 119, delivery of metal on the main road and by-road in the Hair estate, Mr Scally and Mr Downer (same price) to draw lots tor the contract, the drawing to be left in the hands of tho clerk. Next Meeting -It was resolved that
the next meeting be held on Monday, 14th January. Metalling— Cr Porry asked as to metalling a portion of the Tokomaru East Eoad and tbo Balmoral Eoad, and the Foreman was instructed to report as * to cost at next meet^n (. accounts— Accounts to the amount of £112 7s 9d, and Mr Huck— er/s contract -26 63 were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned. y"
