WAITOTARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Waitotara Council was held yesterday. Present — Councillors Laird (in the chair), Robertson, Tawse, Webb, Porry, Handley, and Deinpsey. Minutes. — The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, Huxley Road.— A letter was received from Superintendent Mills asking the Council to open up the Huxley Koad at Haxwelltown. On the motion of Councillor Tawse, seconded by Councillor Handley, it was resolved, "That the Foreman of Works shall give notice to all persona having obstructions on any of the Maxwelltown roads that they shall be removed at once, so that the roads may be opened for public traffic." Koutanui Road.— lt was resolvdd, on tbe motion of the Chairman, seconded by Councillor Dempsey, " That the Foreman repair the hill, with the assistance of Mr Curries horses and drays, as offered. Waitotara Bridob.— lt was resolved, " That tenders be called for the painting of the hand-rails of tho Waitotara Bridge and tarring the piers, to be received on Wednesday, April 11th." Loan.— Un the motion of Councillor Tawse, tbe Clerk was instructed to take necessary steps for raising ,£2OOO for constructing nine miles of the Tokomaru East Road, on the condition that the cost of raising the loan be deposited. Tenders.— The following tenders were accepted .—Contract 111, for 200 yds metal on Riv9r Bank Koad— D. Scally, at 23 4d per yard ; contract 112, for 200 yds metal on main road near Virginia Lake— K. H. Russell, at 33 Od per yard ; contract J. 13, for 10 chains of formation of the Mosstown- Heads Road — J. Bowler, at X32 13s 4d, lump sum. Bank Account. — The bank books 1 showed a debtor balance of XlOl 15s 9d. Accounts. — Accounts to the amount of 1 ,£252 2s 8d were passed for payment. 1 The Council then adjourned, f — — — — — 1
