A HARBOUR TRAGEDY.
» 3 (Per Press Association.) Wellington, April 2. In the gale last night the lighter Spec, 1 owned by Mr Downes, and moored in 2 the harbour, sank. She was loaded with 3 stone, and a man named Robert Young, () who was in charge of her, was advised to leave her, as the position was dangerous, but refused. This morning his body was I found on shore. He had a lifebelt on, I and his watch, Which was carefully 3 wrapped up in leather, was still going, t The poor fellow evidently tried hard to a save himself. He was unmarried. It is 1 said that lights wore observed on board j as though he was trying to signal, but t this is not confirmed.
