To start at 4.30 p.m. TS" Definition of a Hack. — A hack is a horso that has never won an advertised raco (hack and hunter races excepted,), and that is not, at the time of start, and has not been, during the three calendar months previous to the time of start, nominated for any raco — hack and hunter races excepted. TUESDAY, May 8, 1894 (on or about)Weights for Hunter's, Trial, and Hack Flat Handicaps. TUESDAY, May 15th, at 9.30 p.m.— Acceptances : Hunter's Steeplechase; 1 soy. ; Hack Flat Handicap, 10s. THUESDAY, May 24th (on tho Course) —Weights for Final Steeplechase will be declared after tho Trial Steeplechaso, and acceptances half-an-hour beforo the race starts: BULES AND BEGULATIONS. All ontries, nominations, etc., will close at tho Secretary's office at 9 p.m., except when otherwise specified. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Secretary, Wanganui Jockey Club, Wanganui, entrance money onclosed, with the name, age at tho time of entry, namo of owner, pedigree, colours of the rider, and in case of handicaps where horses have not previously started on the Wanganui course, pedigree and performance of the horso. Any owner failing to declare his colours at time of entry will be fined 2 soys., unless the colours of the owner of the horse are duly registered. All entries can be made on the Club's printed forms of entry, and must bo sent to the Secretary of the Wanganui Jockey Club, Wanganui, from whom entry forms can bo btained. Entries by telegram must be confirmed in writing at the earliest possiblo opportunity. ! All horses must bo ridden in colours. [ Any jockey riding except in the colours I entered will be lined 2 soys. I When two or more horses start, Iho pro perty of the s ame owner, a distinguishing colour must be declared on entry day, and j worn. Any person neglecting thisrulo to bo fined 2 soys. In all cases whero penalties havo to bo carried for winning, it .shall be tho duty of the owner, trainer or iockey to notify the same to the Secretary, when possiblo, the I evening beforo the race, or in any caso half-an-hour prior to tho start. Any person : neglecting to comply with this rule shall pay j a fine to bo imposed by the Stewards, not exceeding 5 soys. In all races othor than handicaps an allowance will be made to all horses sired north of the lino, in accordance with tho following scale :— 2 aud 3-year-olds, 101 b .; 4-year-olds, 7lhs. *, 5-year-old. 31bs. All poisons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of tho Scales on-half-hour before tho official timo for starting the raco. An person neglecting or rcc fusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine, to be imposed by tho Stewards, not exceeding 20 soys., to the Eace Fund. Five per cent will be deducted from all winnings towards tho expenses of tho course. "All races to bo run under the rules of Bacing.
