BOWLING.

[Per Press Association.] Nawkb, March 23. The Napier Bowling Tournament opened to-day, about 100 visiting bowlers taking part. The weather was all that conld be desired. The play to-day was confined to inter-club matches, of which three rouuds were got off. The results are as follows .- - First round : Wellington beat Napier by 43 to 42 ; Napier boat Pojisonby by 69 to Glj Christchurch beat Napier by 3b" to 32, Auckland beat Palmerston by 89 to 37, Second round : Napier beat Wellington b/ 64 to 84; Ponsonby beat Palmerston by 61 to 57 j Christchurch beat Aucklaan by 45 to 35Third round : Napier beat Palrasrston by 78 to 58 ; Thotnden beat Auckland by 45 to 34 ; Chrißtchurch beat Wellington by 34 to 32. The two Christcburch teams are very strong ones. It is expected, judging by to-day's play, that the honours of the tournament will bo equally shared by Christcliuruh and Napier, with Thorndon close up.
