'I he Egmont farmers' Union (Limited), Hawera, report I.—1 .— We held our stock sale at Stratford, on Friday, the lGth inst. The entries of cattle wore about on a par with what were advertised, but the sale throughout lacked spirit, though we managed to clear most of the linos offered. We quote:—! Cattle— Stows, 12 to 18-months, £,?, to £'i (J3 6d j waaners and calves, 16s Gd to £2 Is; empty cows, X2 l7s to .23 Bs. Our fortnightly salo was held in the Glover Road yards, Hiwera, an the Blst inst. The yards wero overfilled with diltlo, the most of which consisted of fat and forward steors of first-class quality. Bidding for the fat cattlo ivas satisfactory, and all wo had onterod were sold. Stores and young stock mot; with a dragging salo, and very little business was done at the hammer, but on vendors lowering thoir reserves a littlo the bulk of them changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote :— Cattle— Fat bullocks, £5 15s to JE6 8j ; forward do, £3 17s 6d to £4 15s j 2 year steers, £3 3s to £3 12s 6d ; fat cows, £4, to £4 7s ; springers, £3 123 6d to £n 10s ; cows and calves, .£3 10s to fi 17s i 18-mbnths heifers, £2 to £2 ss. Sheep — Pat ewes, 7s 7d ; cull ewes, 9d ; small woolly lambs, 2s 7d.
