The Premier at Masterton.
v (Pub Pbess Association,) Masterton, December 7. Addressing a large audience at the Theatre Royal last evening the Premier aaid he was delighted at the result of the general elections. Tho women of the colony had falsified tho prediction that their vote would be a Conservative one. Tha Liberal Party had inflicted an overwhelming defeat on the Conservatives, but generosity and moderation should characterise tho Government of tho colony now they had been returned to power. While fully adverting to the principles they had always advocated, it was their boundon duty to bo cautious, and not to take advantage of their strength. It had beon stated that internal dissension would weaken the Party; but, if the Opposition relied upon that, they would find themselves griovously mistaken. The whole of the Liberal Party would stand firm to their principles, and, on minor points, if necessary, would agree to diner. At the conclusion of his speech,an unanimous voto of confidence wbb passed in the Government policy. [ ,
