A Curious Case.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, November 8. A curious cast) was hoard in the Magistrates Court to-day. Some six or seven years ago Mrs Cooper, of Palmerston NortU.lost a valuable horse.wbioh was supposed to have been stolen. Although a description of it was given to tho police it was never traced, but n few weeks ngo it turned up in possession the of Mr T. Henderson, of Karori. Part of the mys lory couneeted with the animal's long disappearance was unravelled to-day. IL appears I bat Mr James Gallagher, cab proprietor, of this city, bought tho horse in 188(j from a man who gave tha name of Martin it had been previously offered as a police mount, but was deemed to be unsuitable because of a defect in one eye. Gallagher afterwards sold it to the late Lieut-Colonel Butts, who used it for about five years, during which lime it was frequently kept at. the Police Barracks and stabled with the police horses. Colonel Butts disposed of it to Frank Dyer, of Wellington, who subsequently sold it to Hendei'Eon, from whuin ita original owner is now trying to recover it or its viiluo, which sho places at .£3O. The utse will be concluded in the Palmerston Couit.
