Mr H. W. Pownall, the Hon. Secretary, deserves every praise for the self-denying manner in which he laid himbelf out to prepare the track, without the assistance of one of the Committee. On Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning Mr Pownall, aided by a couple of friends, was busy in measuring and marking off the tracks, but not one of his colleagues of the Committee went near him. The resut ivas, nevertheless, satisfactory, and the Club can but recognise their Secretary's ardour on their behalf. The different events were interesting from the form shown by the competitors and on the whole the time was good. The school boy's events were keenly contestpd by the Collsgiates, and several of the youngsters showed promise of becoming good athletes in the near future.
