It is a mystery to us why Government candidates for Parliament go to the trouble cf addressing public meetings and publishing their opinions. Theirs is th 9 noble dirty of obedience. When Dictator Seddon commands, it ia theirs not to reason why, theirs not to make reply, theirs but to do— or fly— obedient slavies. The object of Mr Seddon's visit to Feilding last week was simply to announce that Mr Stevens and Mr Hrani were candidates who would suit the Government, and that their supporters were to vote for them. What the views of either of. the candidates in question may be on public questions is of no particular consequence. They have promised to support the Government, and the Government has endorsed them— and that is all that is needed.
