The weather was i;old and cheerless, and the ground was very heavy and the saddling > paddock was a quagmire. There waa a moderate attendance. The other starters were— 79 Norton, 212 Shillelaoh, 231 Bootles/164 Marochel Neil, 09 Flukem, OB Chester, 89 Auckland, and 102 Deceiver. The running for the first couple of furlongs was made by Daoe'ver, but Bootlps then took command and was first up tho hill thefirßt time, giving way,however, to Plukem, Shillelagh at the samo time running round a fence at the top of the hill, and Marechel Neil refusing to jump, Deceiver was first on to the fiat and at the water jump where Booties, Plukem, Despised, Scaltheen, Norton, Auckland, and Nero followed him in that order. Booties again took up the lead climbing the hill, Despised being second at the fence, where Auckland baulked. Despised, favoured by his light weight, ran to the front down the hill and led all the way round until he was on the hill the third time, when with 15 lengths' lead, he fell. Plukom having in the meantime fallen at the double and Norton, who bad run a disappointing race, having been pulled up, Despised was quickly remounted and again catching the leaders in the run homo won by four lengths, six lengths between the second and third. Time, 9min 58iiec. Dividends, £37 12s and .693 ss. Hurdle Race, If miles. — Criminal, lOst (A. Williams), 1; Belmont, lOat (McMinnman), 2; Ingoripa, 9st B'b (Alex. Williams), 3. Pour started. Won by three lengths. Dividends, £5 103 and £i 9s. Second Winter Welter Handicap, 7 fnrlonEts— lda, list 121 b (Taylor), 1; His Worship, lOst (Mahon), 2; Lady Belle, lOst (Morgan), 3. Ton started. Nero drew away in the straight and won by threequarters of a length. Time, 9min 19sec. .Dividends, .CIO 10s and .£lO. The Novel Race was won by Jessica.
