We have received the first number of the Australian edition of the .Review of Reviews, 'lhis publication contains all the English matter, with au extra 32 pages (including advertisements) relating to the Australian colonies j it is edited by Key. W. H. Fitchett. The frontispiece lias theiportraitsof 49 Australasan Statesmen ; and among the other potraits are Sir Geo. Dibbs, Lord and Lady Glasgow, the late Sir Harry Atkinson and Viscount Aneram. Under the head of " The Progress of the Colonies," the doings of the various colonial parliaments are reviewed, and other news is discussed. Oth« features are Books relating to Australia! the Poetry of the Month; The Weekly Journals of Australia ; the first of a series of articles in Australian Caricaturists j Mr Livingstone Hopkins of the Sydney Bulletin ; the Caricatures of the Month j Australians State Papers j Current Australian Literature. Mr Stead, the English editor, tells his readers why the Review of Reviews tabes root in Australia. Next month we are promised illustrated articles on the Sydney Morning Herald, and Sir George Grey, two subjects full of interest to the whole of the scattered four millions that people Australasia. The English portion of the Eeview contains the. usual atriount of interesting matter. The account of the Toynbee Traveller's Club and of the Polytechnic cheap trips shows what can . be done $t little expense by co-operative travelliflj*. The character sketch for the month is Louise Michel, the "Bed Virgin." Thers are some splendid views of the World'e Fair at Chicago. The Australian edition is published at 9d, and ought to have a ready sale thoughoufc the wholeof the colonies.
