During the month the Western States .Congress held a session at Kansas City. ( The qbject of the Congress was to discuss the fiDance and business conditions of the United States, and devise means to improve the situation The Cornell University faculty have ' refused to permit the law class to secure Robert G, Ingersoll to deliver the annual address during the]commencement exercises. The action of the faculity was due to religious prejudice. — Four trans- Atlantic passenger steamers were quarantined at New fork on April 19. They were infected with typhoid fever, yellow fever, and varioloid. The ships carried a total of 942 passengers.
