Four auctioneers were charged at the Dunedin Magistrates' Court with permitting flag 6to be suspended over the footpath in coiitvavontion of the by-law. As there was no actual obstruction, and as the cases were the first under the new bylaw, they were dismissed. In another case, through an omission in the summons of the word flag, the auctioneer ■was charged with suspending himself, and as he said he had no intention to commit suicide the case was struck out.
