THE WATTOTARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of tho above body was held yesterday morning, when there 'were present— Cra Ritchie (in tho chair), Peat, Laird, Wright, Robertson, Tawse, Dempsey, and Perry.
Minutes. — The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Slauqhtebing License. — An application was received from D. Bayloy for a • slaughter license, at Kai Iwi, enclosing fee.of £1. — Cr Peat moved, That the application be granted. — Seconded by Cr Laird and carried;
Mosstown-Heads Road. — A plan and letter re the above road were, received from Mr Combes, C.E., and it was moved by the Chairman and seconded by Cr Dempsey, That tho road as shown in Mr Combes' tracing be adopted.; carried.
Be Ranohtikbi Road Extension. — It was moved by Robertson, and seconded by Cr Tawse, That Mr Peat's offer to make the land over to the Queen as a road duly formed be accepted ; carried.
Crown and Native Lands Rates.— The Horowhonua County Council wrote asking the Council to co-operate with them in petitioning 1 tho Government to resume the payment of rates on Crown and Np.tivo lands.— lt was moved by Cr Laird and seconded by Cr Dempsey, That the Chairman interview tho member for the district on the subject, and that this Council co-operato with the Horowhenua County Council in the matter; carried.
Foreman's, Report. — The, |F oreman's report was read and adopted. , '. Re LowEn Waitotapa Road: — It was resolved that the Chief Surveyor bo asked for a tracing of the plan, and that a copy of Mr Handley's letter be , sent to Mr Moore with an intimation that the Council intend opening the road at an early date. -Cr Wright asked leave to defer his motion to next meeting, and this was agreed to-
Tknders. — Messrs Brown Bros., wrote asking the Council to call for tenders for the formation and metalline' of the Pukirimu Road. — Resolved, That the wcrk bo held over until the spring, as the season is so far advanced.
Accounts. — Accounts amounting to the amount of .£735 ;18s 5d were passed for payment and the Council adjourned,
