A largo quantity was bought last year in the Colonies for shipment to London, and our direct informa- , tion is that a very serious loss was made on the purchases. The experiment is unlikely to be repeated this year, except at such a margin as will make it safe for the buyors. Under those circumstances we consider growers here will do well to secure the margin for themselves, by ' sending the Wool to London on their own account, and the reports we have of the probabilities of the market there this season lead us to emphasise this advice. We are willing to advance liberally, and . we charge no interest on the advance ' nor exchange betweon here and London. ' BUTTER. ' The returns last year were moat unfortunate. We believe this was chiefly due to the want of space in the Direct Steamers, and consequently to the Butter being injured while awaiting shipment. This year there will be plenty of space, 2 and we are making arrangements to avoid delays anywhere. So that if the 2 Butter is really prime when sent from the dairy, payable results should bo obr tamed. No inferior butter should be sent with any hope of getting a decent price. FLAX. It is wise to send only thebest quality of this, and only those should send even that quality who are so situated as to be able to r produce tho article at the minimum cost. Both in America and in London low prices are ruling at present. We are keeping ourselves fully advised by Cable and Letter, and we will advance according to circum- •• stances.
