THE NEWTON SEAT.
♦ (Pee United Press Association.) Auckland, February 22. Mr David Qoldie has resigned his seat in the House, the City Council, and the Education Board. He has to leave for Melbourne on urgent business (in a few weeks, and may not be back in time for the meeting of the House. He has written to Sir George Grey asking him to stand for the seat, and to the chairman,, of his committee to the same effect ';. „. „ February 28. l x. s>r George Grey was interviewed to* day as to his intentions in tegard to the vacant Newton seat. He said-he -would require time to consider the matfer.'but would probably: stand for the seat; if not put' to the 'troubte'arid excitement of contesting an election.
