It contains a large proportion of silver, gold, and galena. The bodies of Messrs John Burnside and Alfred Stevens, drowned in the Ponui boat accident, have been recovered. There is no sign of the fourth young man (Mr Hale), and it, may be that his body lias been swept out to sea. The Commissioner of Crown Lands for South Australia (the Hon. W. Copley) has arrived here on his inspection of the Village Settlement system. He went thence to Te Aroha, where he was received by the Chairman of the Domain Board. At the'Vequest of the Board he planted an oak tree in the domain in commemoration of his visit.
