THE MIDLAND RAILWAY COMPANY.
+ [Per United Press Association.] Wellington, June 17. A largely attended public meeting, called by requisition, and presided over by the County Chairman, was held N at Reefton on Monday evening, to take steps to prevent the auriferous lands falling into the hands of the Midland Railway Company. It is said that despite the assurance of the Minister of Mines to the contrary, the Company were letting the lands without the Council having been previously apprised. A series of strong resolutions were passed to be forwarded to the Government. The co-operation of the whole of tho West Coast is to be invited in the matter.
