The Council rose, at 9.50 till to-morrow. ■Wellington, September 12. The West Coast Settlement Eeserve Act Amendment Bill was read a first time.'; • • „ ■ ■

The Public Works Acts Amendment Bill was.reconimitted. The third reading, to take place on' Saturday. The Hon. Mr Stevens moved .the second reading of the Naval and Military Settlers and -Volunteers Land Bill. ..The Hon. Mr McLean moved.. That it be read, a second time this day'six months. The. Council divided, and the second reading was carried by 15 toll.. The North Island Main Trunk Railway Loan Application Bill was read a third time and passed. The Council rose at C p.m. till tomorrow.
