The New Zealand Shipping Company deny that they have any intention of suing the Dock Companies for the loss occasioned by the detention of the Ruapehu. The strikers have .£12,000 in the bank.
It was the Strike Committee who empowered Cardinal Manning to negotiate with the employers. They appear to be convinced that it is desirable to accept the compromise. The Companies will begin the increased pay in November instead of January. [This isas leceived.] ; The Standard says that the Australian arfcizans will find that while nominally helping the dock labourers they have really been playing into the hands of the Socialists. [Per United Press Association.] ... -Dunedin^ September 12." ■ The Federated Stewards and Cooks' Union have forwarded jS2OO to the funds of the .dock labourers on strikein London.
