The Supreme Court resumes its sitting at 10 o'clock this morning. The Queen Charlotte Sounds Gold Mining Company of New Zealand, with a capital of ,£200,000, has been registered. There will bo an inspection parade of the Wanganui Rifles to-morrow (Tuesday) evening, at 7.30 p.m. The Bank of New Zealand at Hokitika shipped 30030zs of gold, valued at ,£12,000, on Saturday. Mr .1. W. McDuff advertises several vehicles of different descriptions for sale, all in good order. The Gas Company have been notified by the Borough Council that they want the street lamps reduced from G3 to 20. A meeting of tho Council of: the. ; Parliamentiiry Union is to be held this week, to make arrangements for the opening ceremonial of tho session. Messrs T. W. Ho meets the various local bodies on Monday. ;The Salvation Army intend having a giant demonstration up the River in the Tuhua, on May 24th, tho Queen's Birthday, when the public generally aro cordially invited. According to ■ a Press Association telegram from Auckland, the Colonial Sugar Company have made another advance of 10s per ton on the price of all grades of sugar. Tho increase in five weeks 'amounts to 30s per ton. Advices from Zanzibar state that Captain Wissman, who is in charge o? the German operations on that coast, with a force of 900 men, attacked the' rebel leader Bushire, at Bagomoyo, at the head of 600 Arabs. After some severe fighting Bushrire was badly beaten, and ' fled, leaving some eighty men killed.
