Blake to the Governorship of Queensland, Mr W. H. Smith; said the request of the Queensland government had been premature and imperious in tone. The matter is now 'receiving the careful attention of the Cabinet, by whom moderation would be exercised in dealing with the question, and the colonial Government ■ might rest assured that the imperial Government would act in all good faith with a desire to 3eeur<? a satisfactory solution of the difficulty.
