October fl. Mr W. H. Smith, in the course of his speech at Gloucester, said, the Imperial Government had never intended to cede Bechuanaland to the Cape. ■ It is rumoured that Sir William Robinson, Governor of South Australia, will be appointed in the place of the late Sir Anthony Musgrave. Dr Emil J. Trenchmann, Professor of Modern Languages at Bangor University College in North Wales, has been appointed lecturer of modern literature af the Sydney University.
