A lively discussion took place to-day afc a meDting of the Dunedin Presbytery wifch regard to the Bey A. C. Gillies, who recently resigned the charge of the ITorth Dunedin church aud received a cartific-te, but has since conducted services in a hall in town. A motion was made thafc Mr Gillies be asked as to tho nature and purpose of those services, but mo3t of the members were of opinion that ifc would be unwise to stir in the matter as Mr Gillies would soon find it uee^sary to leave, and con- | sideration of tbe matter was postponed till next meeting. At the Supreme Court, Ah You, for wounding a fellow countryman, was sentenced to a months' imprisonment. ThomasEd wards, for unlawfully wounding, was found guilty and recommended to mercy on the ground of ill-treatment at fche hands of prosecutor, the latter, it appeared, when assaulted by prisoner, knocked him down.
