WANGANUI FIRE BRIGADE.

♦ The following is a copy of a circular which has been addressed by Cautain Oummins, of the Fire Brigade, to the commercial piiblic of Wanganui. The object of the circular has our heartiest sympathy, and we trust that the meeting to be held ou Tuesday afternoon will show tbat the people of Wangunui know how to value a good brigade. " For some time past the financial position of the Fire Brigade has been unsatisfactory, oaused mainly through the withdrawal of the subsidy of £125 per annum, previously granted by the Fire Insurances offioes doing business here. The brigade's committee has endeavoured to overtake their indebtedness, whiph has beea accumulating, by reducing tbeir expenditure in every possible direction, but find it impossible to do so without jeopardizing the efficiency of the brigade by allowing the working plant to fall into disrepair and bad oonditioa, thereby endangering the safety of life and property. It has been resolved to call a meeting of insurers and others interested in the welfare of the brigade, pn Tuesday next, the. 7tlj instant, at tbe St. Hill-street $?ire Brigade Station, at 3.30 o'clock p.m. sharp, for the purpose of conferring with the brigade's committee, with a view of placing the financial position of the brigade on a more satisfactory footing. Your attendance, is respectfully requested."
