The Home team were composed as follows:— Messrs A N. Hornby, A . P. Lancashire, H. B. Steel, F. Taylor, A. Dobol, H, Eccles, Barlow, Briggs, Pilling, A. Wtitson, and "Yates. The Australians went iu first, Jooes and Sootfc being sent to face the English bowling. Both men were in good frsrra and ran up the score to 60, when, owing to the heavy rain which had heen falling at intervals during the day v ife was decided to draw the stumps, Jones being not out with 34, Scott not out 20, aud extras 6.
