RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Saturday, February 20th, 188 G.) (Before it. Ward, Esq , R,M.) HUSBAND AND WIFE QUARRELLING. Ellen aud Charles Seccombe were charged with using obscene language on the lGth instant. Mr Borluse appeared for Mr Secooinbe. Constable Gray, sworn, deposed that ha lived opposite the house occupied by defendants, and on the 18th instant, about 7.30 p.m., he saw the defendants fighting in the garden between the house and the road. Mr Seccombe put his wife oufcaide tbe fenc<\ and she then threw stone 3at him anl used obscene language, which he zep?ated. — John Jam^s also gave simila? cvideuoo, and stat d that it was the common talk of the neighbourhood that Mrs Seccoinbe was addictoi to drinking, and that she sometime' u'fc the house for a day or two. — The police stated that there were several previous convictions against Mrs Secombe.— The male defendant was sentenced to 24 hours im» 1 mpriaaniaent, and his wife to 48 hours..
