MURDER OF A BOAT'S CREW.
Information was received at Trviue on Monday, 2Jth September, by Captain Hall, late of the Glasgow barque Roseneatb, which foundered in tie Straits of Magellan in May last, from Mr Sampson, first officer of the ship in charge of the second boat, giving details of the terrible butchery of tho remalndet of the crew by savage?, and thft escape of himself. Captain Hall, his .wife, and seven of the crew wore picked up by a passing ■*es«l, after being seven days in an open boat, but the mnt-.'s boat, which w-s ths first to leave the ship, was drifted by the current down south, and after being five days in the boat the crew came in fight of land, which was, unfortunately, inhabited bf savages, wVo murdered the carpenter, boy, and two ab e seamen, the mate alone being sparei. Howhe managed to escaro the death meted out to his fonr companions will >-ot be known until he arrives home fro-ii Valparaiso, hut after, spending- sixty-throe days amongst them ho managed to escape, and ivas laufled at that port.
