BULLS' HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The annual exhibition of flowers, fruit, and shrubs in connection with this society took place yesterday in the Bulls Town Hall, which was thronged with visitors from morning till night, the total attendance being unusually largo, a fact due iv some degree to the beautiful fineness of the day. The show itself, considering the lateness of the season, was in all respects a decided success, and the exhibits in most classes were tolerably numerous. Amongst them were several contributions from Wanganui, Mr George Walker taking the principal prize and the leading place in the show for rosee. Amongst local men, that veteran horticulturist, Mr Thomas McKenzie, of Pointsfield, took the lead. The show was particularly strong in roses and cut flowers generally, aiid tho pot plants and the vegetables were roally creditable to the district. Mr Hunt, the local nurseryman, was as usual to the fore, and his miscellaneous collection "was one ot the most conspicuous features ia tho show. Mr James Laird's nursery was laid under contribution (though not for competition) for a fine collection of antirrhinums, and a beautiful spike oi Echicium candescens, the flower being blue, with scarlet stom, which waf greatly admired, many being the in quiries as to its name and nature. Th« judges in all the classes were Messri James Laivd and Audrew Christie, anc their decisions appeared to give complete satisfaction.
