WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL. .ICTOTICE is hereby given- that at a J. 1 meeting of the "VVanganui Borough 1 Council, held on the seventh day of No-; vember, 1882, it was resolved that the, following By-laws be made ; and noticed is hereby further given that a subsequent meeting o£ the said Council Trill be held on Wednesday.the 6th day of December,' 1882, at. the ; hour of . 6.45 p.m./for: the' purpose of confirming such By-laws. : : ':. •■ ' BY-LAW No. : 15, ■'; ' " \ ' For regiilaling the Storage and Management of Potroleum. within the Borough. 1 In pursuance .of the powers; vested, in, them _ by " The Dangerous" Goods Act, 1882," and of all other powers in this! behalf in them vested by law, the Council of tho Borough of Wanganui ordain as follows: — ,:■:: : 1. In .this By-law 'the frord "Petro-, leum " shall mean and include theseve- : ral articles and things mentioned in section 2 of "The Dangerous Goods Act,' 1882," herein called "the said Act," notwithstanding the same or any of them do not give, off an inflammable.vapour at a temperature of 1 less than one 'hundred and ten degrees of Fahrenheit's thermometer'; and shall : also'include.^ such other articles and 'things as haye 1 been since the date of the coming, into operation of thesaid Act, or shall hereafter be declared under the provisions of section , 5 ! of the said Act, to come within, .the provisions of the said Act. 2.. No.persbn shall keep any-Petroleum within ,tlie;Borough of Wanganui except ; in pursuance of .such written License in that 'behalf as is hereinafter mentioned; provided'' always that any "person may keep in any' private, house Petroleum to tlie extent of eight gallons for" private use. . . „ ""•.■' ' . ( 3. Any person desirous of obtaining a License to. keep Petroleum in or upon his premises; within thesaid Borough shall delire'r to 'the Town Clerk of, theßorougli Council of the said Borough a written application for such License, and such application shall specify the situation oE the premises wherein the same is.iritended to be kept, and the description and quantity of Pelroleum which the applicant proposes to keep therein. , „ . . .... '1. Such application shall be' considered 'by the said Borough Council,' and every person to whom the said Borough Council may have resolved that a. License be granted shall bo entitled, to receive from the Town Clerk 'a License under, the hands of any." two members of such Council, authorising the applicant to keep in terms of I lie said License such quantity of Petroleum as the said Council may in each case consider proper. "5. Every such license as aforesaid shall terminate on the thirty-first day of March in each year, aud for every such License there shall be paid to the Town Clerk the sum of iivo shillings for every quarter or fraction of a quarter of a year up to the said .thirty-first day of March in each year. — , 6. BY-LAW No. 10. . „ In pursuance of the power vested in them under section 3d!}, subsection <t, of. "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and of all other powers in this behalf in them vested by law, the Council of the Borough o£. Wanganui ordain as follows : — ' . . . . 1. Every person who shall lead or ride any horse or shall lead or. drive ; any horse harnessed to and drawing any cart, dray, carriage, buggy, express, pr .other vehicle of any description round or across any corner or angle of any of the streets,, squares, or other public thoroughfares in^ the Borough of. Wanganui , at any pace , other than a walking pace shall be guilty of an offence. ' . ■ 2. Every person- who shall -lead or ride any horse, or shallicad.or drive any,, horse harnessed to and drawing any cart, dray, carriage, buggy, express,; or otkq'r' vehicle of any description, on; 'upon, "on to, over, or across any footpath' 'in' any street, square, or other public thoroughfare in the Borough of Wanganui at any pace other, than a walking pace shall be guilty of an offence. 3.
