NOTICE is hereby given that the Wangaehu Highway Board purpose closing a portion of the Great Eastern Line passing through the Wiritoa property, as being impracticable for traffic, and taking instead thereof a practicable line from the owners of the said property in exchange for such portion so proposed to be closed. A plan, shewing the road proposed to be stopped and that proposed to be taken in exchange, and a general description of the land so proposed to be taken, are now open for inspection at the office of the said Board, Rutland Chambers, Wanganui; and all persons affected are hereby required within forty days of the publication of this notice to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the taking of such lands. A hempen cord was used for tying. The spectators were extremely well pleased with this machine. To all appearance it would have finished its. plot first, or, at any rate, about tho same time as the Mcpormank, but for an accident which occurred when lonly about two rounds had to be mad When going thtough a little gully, i h "swayboard," or " vibrator " as some term it, broke, and the machine was helplessly stuck up, so far as tho competition was concerned Tho verdict of the judges was as follows: — 'Samuelson did not finish allotment; Oaborne, 12 points ; Wood, 23 points j Bobcrfcson's Deering, 14 points; D. Reid's Deering, 13 points ; McCormack, 23 points. We, the undersigned judges, appointed hy tho Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association to judgo the twine binders, have come to tho conclusion that in the crop cut to-day, tlio work done by the Wood and McCormack machines, and by the Samuelson, until the time of the accident, was as near perfection as well could be." Mr Samuelson junior, who visited the colonies during the recent harvest to examine into special circumstances and wants, has returned to England, and will effect such small alterations as the experience of his visit may suggest, and we have confidence in recommending the SAMUELSON HARVESTER as the best in the market for the nex season.
