MR F. E. JACKSON'S LONDON AGENTS' REPORT.

Via San Francisco. 18, Finsbury Circus, London, 16th June, 1881. _ The last homeward San Francisco mail reached London on Whit Monday, 6th of June, nnd brought dates from Wellington and Christchurch. to 23rd April. From Australia the latest dates are Sydney 23rd April, Melbourne 25th April, and Adelaide 27th April, received via Brindisi on Bth June. Wool. — After a week's interval the present series of sales recommenced on the Bth instant, and an improved tone soon became manifest, more especially for greasy crossbrods, which are now considered to be 5 per cent, dearer than at the beginning of the series ; other wools are well competed For, but without much change in values. 'Ijhe revival in crossbred wools anticipated in our circular of 24-tti March, is therefore at lust becoming apparent, and it. remains to be seen whether the same will (as we expect) become still more developed during the autumn and winter series of sales. The present series will probably* close on the ?7KlJuly. 'L'allo-w. — Prices have advanced about * per cwt, highest present quotations being 37s for mutton, iva.6 35s for beef. Present stock in first hands is estimated at 9850 casks. Hides and Leather. — At the sale of 2nd June there was rather an improved demand for hides, but quotations of prices are hardly changed, still ranging from 4jd to sjjd for best heavies, lights, aud cows. Leather is substantially without change at; from 9d to 11-Jd per Ib. Basils have declined kl to Id per lb, especially common skins ; ; sales of Melbourne have been made at from B^-d to 14d, while of New Zealand import some good skins have sold at from lOd to 13Jd per lb. Ghain. — Our market has hardened Is to 2s per qv., and still presents a firm appearance, the American crops being considered not to promise so well as last year. Australian is now quoted 48s to 50s, and New Zealand 44s to 495, both per 4961bs ex store. Some arrivals are to hand of the new crop from New Zealand, which appear to be very strong and heavy wheats, which will probably be better appreciated after trial. Flour is quoted at from 29s to 35s per 2801bs. Barley is nominally quoted at 34s to 40s per 4481bs for 'New Zealand chevalier. Oats of heavy weights are still saleable at 27s to 30s per 3841b5, but inferior are very difficult of sale. The weather of the past four weeks has been very changeable ; we had about ten days hot summer, followed from the sth to 10th June by a return ulir.Oßt to winter, but it is now waruiev again. There has been some rain, but hardly sufficient to do much good. Johnson and Allsup.
