February 28. A daring robbery was committed at Walters' Prince of Wales Hotel -last night, when £175 in cash was stolen from his bedroom. - At the City Court to-day Mr Watt convicted Henry G-oater of playing the three-card trick at the races, but gave defendant the chance of appealing, and admitted him to bail, to come up for sentence in a month. Thomas Hodgetts, aged 21, for obtaining money by means of a forged cheque, was sentenced to three months' hard labour. At the sale of the Boorandoora Park yearlings, Messrs Mason and Vallance purchased a Tubal Cain — Topsy colt for 225g5, Tubal Cain — Seashell colt for 200gs, and Tubal Cain— Debenture colt for 25gs. J. Cowan, of Cromwell, bought a Saunterer — Stock-rose filly for lOOgs, Tubal Cain— Argosy filly for 70gs. A Lurline colt by Flying Dutchman and a Tubal Cain — Coquette colt were passed in for 300 gs. The following is the result of Saturday's racing : — Forbury Handicap. — Randwick, 1 ; Atlantic, 2. Queen's Plate.— The Governor, 1; Sylvanus, 2 ; Lady Emma, 3. Flying Handicap.— Luna, 1 ; Talent, 2; Legerdemain, 3.
