WANGANUI EXHIBITION or 1881, o» ART, SCIENCE, AND: INDUSTRY, (Under the general control of the Directors of the Wanganui Public Library, assisted by local Sub* Committees at all tne settlements on the West Coast.) IT is proposed to hold an Exhibition in aid ot the funds of the Wanganui Public Library in^the Drill Hall and adjoining premises, commencing on FRIDAY, MAY 20ih, 1881. All kinds of Exhibits of Art, Science, Industry, Natural History, Curiosities, Raw Material, and Produce, are invited. Paintings, Engravings, Lithographs, Photographs, Architectural Drawings and Models, Sculpture, Carving, &.C. Committee. — Messrs G. S. Robertson, A. Tod, L. H. Jones, Merritt. SCIENCE, NATURAL HISTORY, AND CURIOSITIES (B). Scientific apparatus of all kinds (microscopes, telescopes, electric batteries, &c.) Specimens and Collections of Animals, Vegetables and Miuerals (liviug specimens under special arrangements) ; Ancient Books, Newspapers aud Coins ; Native Arms, Ornaments, and Implements. Committee.— Messrs H. C. Field, M. V. Hodge, Steedmau, and VV. J. Rainbow. INDUSTRY and MANUFACTURES (O). Manufactured Articles of all kinds, I especially those produced in this district. Committee. — Messrs J. Ballance, J. ti. Horn, Cornfoot, and Dr Tripe. PRODUCE AND RAW MATERIAL {D). Flax, Silk, Cotton, and Wool, in small quantities, Honeys Wines, Ales, Aerated Waters, Timber, Coal, ( 'res. Committee. — Messrs F. B. Jackson, Jno. SievensoD, C. S. Cross, and A. D. Willis. The Exhibitors may rely on the utmost care being taken of everything entrusted to the Committee. A ui<;htwatchuiau wiil be employed, and insurances against fire effected. To add to the attraction, during the time the Exhibition is open, Dramatical and Musical Entertainments willbegiven under the direction of a Subcommittee, consisfciug of Messrs Greenwood, Gibbs, Crawford, and Culpan. The management of the Exhibition Hall and ante -rooms will be undertaken by a Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs W. J. Smith, G. HutchisoD, J. P. Watt, and G. F. Allen. In consequence of the death of Mr J. Greenaway, his Nursery and Seed Business will be let on lease for a term of five or seven years. There is a sixroomed dwelling-bouse with attached shop, and conveniently arranged outhouses, green-bouses. &c, situate in Victoria«street, Christchurch. The property includes the Hawthorn Nursery, consisting ofnearly five acres, splendidly situated near Papanui, on the line of tramway, and well stocked with fruit and forest trees, shrubs, &c, of the sboicesi kinds. Offers will be received by Mrs Greenaway up to March 14.
