June 17. The Chamber of Commerce is actively following up the question of establishing a Harbour Board for Wellington. They hold a mee'iiQg on the matter to-morrow, and will interview the Premier again shortlj on the subject. Owing to the pressure of insolvency business lately, the want of accommoda tion iv the Supreme Court is very much felt. All the available rooms of the Court were occupied at once to-day with bankruptcy meetings. The Kinross case, after occupying the greater portion of to-day, was adjourned until Thursday next. Little progress was made. The Government have leased the Athecfflum Hall tor Police Court purposes. FOR THE FIIONT, Fifty thousand rounds of ammunition have gone to Taranaki by the Stella. Mr Squires, the landlord of the Metropolitan Hotel, was fined £10 for keeping his hotel open after midnight. A policeman found customers going in and out at five minutes to one o'clock. Councillor Diver will move in the Council for a steam land fire engine. OPEEA HOUSE FIRE. An inquest will be held on Thursday on the Opera House fire. Henry Watt, for stealing at the fire, got 14 days. Mr Hogarth, whose timber yard was uninsured, lost £900 worth of timber. Amongst other things of a highlyinflamable nature found undamaged in the Bank of New Zealand strong room, were a number of boxes of matches. Archdeacon Stock urges that the names of those who worked so well at the fire should be posted up at a public place, and adds that the roll might be made a permanent one, to include all who do well by a display of self-sacrifice at fires, in saving life, or uny other way. He also suggests that a barge should be buill fora steam tire engine, so that it could be used on land or water.
