AUCKLAND.
Feb 17. SERIOUS FIRE. A fire at Patton'a farm, Papatoitoi, destroyed several stacks of wheat, value six or seveu hundred pounds, supposed to have been caused by a spark from a threshing machine which was working at the time ; all efforts to extinguish the fire failed. The wheat was insured for £400. CAPSIZED IN A SQUALL. Another boat accident happened yesterday. Four young men left in a boat for Lncas Creek, the boat capsized in a squall, they swam ashore a distance of a mile, one of them dressed in a large overcoat. The boat was recovered. NATIVE MEETING. The Chief Paul is aranging for a large meeting at Orakei on the 25th in auticipation of the King meeting, which will be held at Kopua about the 25th March. A BRAVE DEED. A yacht with Dr Hames, W. Brown's Island, where a Figian in the yacht saw a man struggling in thwater. The yacht picked him up H. could only utter the words, " my comrades." Two heads were seen some dia tance above on a crest of the waves. The yacht headed for them, but owing to the squall and tide could not get near them Or Haine3 pluckily took to the small dingy, and having reached the men, fastened them with lines and towed them to the yacht The names of the men saved were Slator, Graves and Darrdl
