June 22. A snowstorm occurred here last night. It was the heaviest known, here since 1863. A telegram from Wellington states that the balance of the land fund due to the Canterbury Road Boards will be paid over at the end of the month, and that the delay was caused by the non-floating of the loan. A Pigeon Race took place on Saturday from Ashburton to Cnristchurch, fifty miles. It was won by a bird belonging to the Union Fanciers.Company ; time, 6min 48sec.
