Sept. 9. The'Otago^sailed for Hokitika yesterday afternoon. The Assembly last night adjourned at an early hour till Tuesday, to allow the Treasurer time to prepare his Financial Statement. During the twelve months, ending June 30th, 1876, the expenditure for railway works already authorised is estimated at £640,200. The Town Hall Committee have resolved not to let the Town Hall on Sundays until a poll of the citizens has been taken on the question. The designs for the new Club House, next the Town Hall, Collins Street, have been submitted to the Building Committee. The cost is £12,000. During a thunderstorm yesterday, a young woman in Stephen "s Street had a narrow, escape from death. She was struck by a blinding flash, which rendered her insensible for half-an-hour. A reef was struck in the Magdala mine, Stawell, at a depth of 1681-J feet, and penetrated three feet without being through. The Cable is expected to he repaired tomorrow. : .
