RANGITIKEI EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION.
Although we bave not heard -much as yet about the proposed Educational Association of Rangitikei, we understand this undertaking is quietly taking shape aud that the committee entrusted with the matter met at Marton on the 29th ult. Rules for the guidance of the Association were considered and agreed upon, steps for furthering the objects of the Association discussed, and such additions were mado to the committee as were required in order to represent equitably all the school districts within the bounds of the area contemplated to be more especially embraced in the operation of the Association. Of those on the committee we mention the following in connection with the various school districts : —
Marton — Rev. W. D. Stewart, Messrs Coleman, Watt, Hunt, Hare, Alsworth, and J. Johnston. ' - Upper Tutaenui — Messrs Mcß.eth, Griffin, and Galpiu. Cliff School district -Messrs Coleman, Hammond, Meyer, aud Cockburn. Bull's — Rev. J. Doull, Dr. Curie, Messrs J. Bull, Walker, Foyan, Lewars, and Kilgour. Parewanui and Lower Rangitikei — Messrs Watkins, Fraser, ' Burns, T. McKenzie, Amon and Winks. Turakina Valley schools— Messrs A. Cameron, McGregor, McAlley, and J. Bruce. Turakina — Rev. J. Ross, Messrs Lethbridge, A, Simpson, C. Cameron, Stead man, and Frankliu. Fern Flat and Makarikiri — Milne, Fiulay, Morrison, and A. Mcßeth. The objects of the Association are twofold. Ist. To watch over and influence so far as it can present and prospective legislative action ou education. 2ndly. To encourage and stimulate education within the district. It was agreed that the next meeting should be held at Turakina, and steps should then be taken for the enrolment of members, and. that the subject of discussion should more e.spechdiy be how to promote aud stimulate education in the district.
