Manawatu, left Wellington at 8 aan. on the Bth, but in consequence of the heavy sea at Pencarrow (Wellington Heads) was compelled to return to the wharf; sailed at 8.15 a.m. on the 9th, passed the s.s, Storm Bird at 11. T5 a.m. between Mana Island and Terawiti, arrived alongside the wharf at midbight. On the next trip of the Storm Bird to Wellington after her return to this port, she will undergo a thorough overhaul and with the view of improving her passenger accommodation and carrying capacity. We learn on good authority that a project is on foot at New Plymouth for the formation of a company to build a steamer in England to trade between this port and the former. The proposal is likely to receive substantial support here.
