QUERY OF NOVEMBER 5

TO THE EDITOR OE THE WANGANUI CHRONICLE. Sir, —In answer to the query of your correspondent concerning the appointment of Militia Officers, I beg to inform him, that the Governor, on the recommendation of the Officer in Command of the District, makes the appointments; also that Postmasters can serve in the Militia, either as privates or officers, provided that such service does not interfere with their duties as Postmasters. It will be time enough tor your correspondent to trouble himself about the matter when he finds Postmasters neglecting their postal duties. In the meantime 1 should advise him to mind his own business, and bear in miud Horace’s motto, “ Rixatur de lana caprina.” I trust he is satisfied with my answers, and that the appointment of Militia Officers may not cause him many sleepless nights. Yours truly, Koinos Nous.
