WANGANUI STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY (LIMITED.) AT the Ordinary Half-yearly Meeting, Wednesday, 20th June, 1866. Present —T. Wafers, Esq., Chairman, and 32 shareholders. The Chairman read the Directors’ Report, also statement of half-yearly account for six months ending lllh April last: — DIRECTORS’ REPORT. In again presenting their half-yearly Report To the Shareholders, the Directors have the satisfaction to state that an improvement has takeu place during the six months in the receipts, from the working of their steamer, the Wanganui, The nett profit, as shown by the balance sheet, amounts to the sum of i-576 2s 9d—that for the previous half year being but £265 Os 9d. There now stands at the credit of profit and loss account a total balance of A 1471 9s 7d. The Directors have the pleasure of recommending that the’ sum of A' s so 16s 3d, part of that amount, should be appropriated to the payment of a dividend at the rate of 10 per cent per annum, to be payable at the office of the Bauk of New Zealand in Wanganui, on and after the Ist proximo. Tiro Wanganui has performed the following trips during the half-year, with, as the Directors have reason to b.-lieve, every satisfaction to the public, viz : To Wellington - - 24 trips ~ Nelson - - 3 ~ ~ Taranaki -2 „ „ Manakau (with troops) 1 „ She is still insured in the sum of A 8000. Some small repairs to the machinery, which had become necessary, have recently been effected by tradesmen in Wanganui, in a very satisfactory manner, and the vessel is now represented l>y Captain Low to be in every respect in first-rate working order. There is a sum of LI 500 placed to a fixed deposit account in the Bank of New Zealand at the small interest of 4 per cent, per annum. The directors suggest to the present meeting of-shareholders, that it might be more profitably employed, but prefer ascertaining its views to incurring the responsibility of otherwise dealing with it. The Auditor read his report as folows:— “ Wanganui, 11th April, 1866. “To the Slaveholders of the Wanganui Steam Navigation Company, Limited. “ Gentlemen, —As your Auditor I beg to report that the accompanying balance sheet is a full and fair-statement of the Company’s affairs, as at this date, drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the Joint Stock Companies’ Act, 24, Viet. No. 13. “ I am, Gentleman, “ Your most obedient servant, “ James Eindlater, “ Auditor, “ Wanganui Steam Navigation O O Comjjany, Limited.’’ Moved by 'Captain Taylor, seconded by Mr J. M'Williams—“ That a bonus of 2b per cent, shall be divided among the shareholder-, in addition to the 10 per cent, per annum, recommended in the Directors’ report.” Carried. Moved by Mr.- T. Waters, rood ruled by Mr. W. H. Watt— £t That the report as furnished by the Directors be adopted.” Carried. Moved by Mr. A. Williamson, seconded by Mr. W. Aiken—“ That when the present policies of £BOOO on the s.s. Wanganui expire, all insurance oh the vessel should be discontinued.” Amendment, moved by Mr. D. Peat, seconded by Mr. Watt—“ That when the policy of 1:3000 on the s.s. Wanganui shall expire in October next, that the same shall not be renewed, but from that date the vessel shall stand insured for £SOOO only ” Carried. Meeting adjourned.
