That if their sheep are not-found clean, & branded according to regulation, at the inspections; in March & April next; they will be fined in accordance; with the Act of the Provincial Council of Wellington;—- Session 1. No. 20 Clauses 4 and 5 ; which are as follows:- •—. 4* That if any person himself, or by means of any one under his control, shall turn out, keep, or depasture any sheep or lambs infected with either of tlie /said diseases, on any land intersected or crossed b\ any public road, and sballonait-to afihea notice of the existenee of such ii.ifectipn£in s : ome conspicuous place at each mml oft stich public road ; where ; i,t i utersectssuch land, ; or to renew or replace such notice, as often as need be during tlje .time; of tlie existence of such infection, lip slffell be liable to a penalty of not less than Two Pounds. s

From and after the first (lay of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, all sheep and ' V\bs above the age of six months,; Province of Wellington, shall be branded on the. wool thereof yfilh the brand-of the owner;. anH every.pwiier of anysUch sheep or’ lambs liot being so branded, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five,pounds: and if the said sheep or lambs not. ; being so branded shall exceed four bundreddn number, suclf owner shall be liable to penalty of not less than three 'pelice,-nor more than six pence, for every, such. sheep or lamb not being branded as aforesaid:; And all persons having* bed sheep are hereby informed that in ease of infection being communicated to other docks, they are liable for’damages ; in accordance with Section 14 of the same Act, which declares : 14. Clause 5. ,It shall be the,duty of-the Inspector whenever it shall be reported,to him that .Sheep infected with Scab, or other, contagious or infectious disease are being, driven into or. through, his district to take, immediate steps; to- stay the entry-into or further progress through his district of,such sheep, and for,that purpose not only to .lay information; of such infringement of the law before the nearest Justice, of the Peace but to give notice to. the person in charge of such sheep to return, and in case of. noncompliance by the driver to return immediately to the place from whence lie started to detain such Sheep or to employ Suck drivers‘and other 'assistants as 'he ‘the Inspector may-thiuk subßcicbtyta.'take" b&bk such Sheep to the ' place 7wheh& °they started. ."' .' , , - Clause 10.
