We, the undersigned, Electors of the' district, of Wanganui, finding that Mr. Cameron, to whom a requisition has been got up by some of the Electors, has expressed his determination not to stand, and believing that,, from your great experience in New Zealand politics; your intimate acquaintance with all the great questions bearing on the welfare of this province and of the country in general, your independence and freedom front the spirit of party; your high and well known integrity, and your general popularity with the electors; you are not only competent ta represent this constituencey in the House of Representatives, but would unite all-parties in. your suoport, and thus prevent the evils arising from a contest, beg most earnestly and respectfully that you, will allow yourself to be put in nomination as our Representative in the General Assembly at the approaching Elec- ; tion. Gentlemen, Your flatteringly signed requisition having just been presented to me, calling upon me in terms dictated, I apprehend, rather by my long-cherished and friendly connexion with Wanganui, than any claims which I can advance of a parliamentary character, to allow myself to be put in nomination as your Representative in the General Assembly at the approaching- Election —I do myself the honour' to state, that as I believe such an arrangement to be in accordance will) the general feeling of the district, I waive all private considerations on- the subject., and shall have pleasure in meeting the Electors of Wanganui, at such time as may meet their convenience, for the purpose of communicating my views, and discussing the leading subjects connected with your representation.
