THE WANGANUI CHRONICLE AND RANGITIKEI MESSENGER. “Véritè sans peur.” Wanganui, December 6, 1860.
We regret that a pressure of advertisements unexpectedly received late yesterday afternoon Ims obliged ua to omit the new-s" received by the English mail and our usual leader. The election news of Wellington will. be found in our Correspondent’s letter. Who is to be our member no one has the slightest idea. In addition to the names mentioned by us last, week, Mr. Harrison and Mr. Watt are spoken of; but no one seems inclined to eome forward without a requisition, and as yet nothing of the kind has been set afoot. It is, however, high time something were done, and another week should not be allowed to pass without some effort to secure a candidate who might count on meeting with a favourable reception from the electors. The 2nd battalion of the l4th regt. sailed on the 2nd and 12th -September from Queenstown for Auckland, and another regiment was expected to follow either from England or /udia.
